Hydroelectric power
‘Hydro’ itself means water, so hydroelectric is an energy producer through water to produce electrical energy. It works by controlling the water flow using a dam, turbine, and a generator. The water held above the dam is allowed to build up, when the dam is open the water will fall (waterfall) to lower concentration with force. With enough force it is able to turn the turbine and drives the generator that produces electricity.
Base on PLTA in Medan, the building is made by the water flowing from Toba, so it generates the dam and the turbine which result give electricity around Lake Toba. Also the building with aluminum and it is supported as well. 603 megawatt is enough to support the aluminum building and to the public. With transmission line it transfer electricity to other public. Provide electricity plant to aluminum plant requires 270 kilovolt. Storing electricity in a can create aluminum by supplying it.
In the process of creating hydropower, the turbine changes the kinetic energy of the falling water or waterfall into a mechanical energy. Then the generator takes the mechanical energy collected and turns it into electrical energy, which used to power the electricity, which supplies millions of people with electricity. The hydroelectric power is a good source because it is renewable source of energy, environmentally friendly, and reliable.
Effectiveness
Science: Advantage: Generating electricity using waterfall is a good idea because you get to use nature's power to generate electricity. The generator doesn't produce any green house gases which means its better than a normal power plant. Water can be controlled by the operator. This means that whenever they need to generate more electricity they can control it.
Disadvantage: Building a dam to generate electricity is very expensive to build. This cause the factory to have small profit at the first year of the factory. Building a big damn can trigger earthquakes.Building dam increase the height of the water level. This can lead to flood when the water level is very high
Efficiency
Efficient: The cost of constructing the dam is quite expensive. Good thing some Japanese joint venture with the PLTA Asahan. Other than the the power plant , they make a aluminum factory. 60% of the aluminum produced are exported to Japan and the rest are sent to local people.

The economics can be related because the company itself uses money to build and improve their facility. The cost of constructing the company is high, and it will effect to the economy. The company should handle the economy before the construction. Sure it would be great if they get helped investing money to build the company. The PLTA in Medan got help by the Japanese by investing money to get involve on working the PLTA project. Japanese economic system runs well, and it is capable for them to help the PLTA. In the end it was a great success as an reward of Japanese economic system, they rewarded Japanese with 60% of powered aluminum, the rest are given to Indonesia.
Social
Electricity itself give us a better social with our electric devices, the electricity given from PLTA is huge, which give positive impact to the community. Since in this age electricity are very useful to socialize as well, and the electricity given from PLTA helps the community to socialize through the world. Which can help us to get to know each other also.
Environment
Hydroelectric power is environmental friendly because they use renewable resources. Unlike using coal, oil, or natural gas that can consume world’s energy, while the hydroelectric uses water for their main resources. Water are unlimited supplies on earth, and they are renewable. Hydroelectric power doesn’t burn fossil fuels, such as coal that could cause global warming. Hydroelectric power doesn’t have any negative sources used, it is environmental friendly and it is effective. But in the other side, even though hydroelectric power doesn’t pollute the air or other emissions the construction gave an effect to the environmental impact. Dam is a big construction that ruins the natural landscape, it also prevent fish to reach particular places since the dam block their way and the flowing water makes them harder to swim. The construction also lead to the death of local plants.
